The Czech railway will be more competitive – the Ministry signed a memorandum with Shift2Rail

The transport minister Dan Ťok and Shift2Rail CEO Carlo Borghini signed a memorandum of understanding. The Czech Republic committed as the first European country to cooperation with this initiative. The voice of the Czech Republic will now be better heard regarding the promotion of Czech railway projects and innovations.

The mission of the Shift2Rail national platform, an expert and consultancy body of the Ministry of Transport for railway research and development, is to support the participation of the Czech Republic in European schemes and engage regional entities in research activities. "This new cooperation shall lead to the identification of joint priorities and potential interaction through information exchange and participation in events organised for the promotion of railway industry stakeholders and for more profit from European programmes", says the CEO of Shift2Rail Carlo Borghini.
 
But this cooperation will bring even more added value: the engagement of SMEs and regional industry. "Also Czech suppliers making and introducing the most state-of-the-art technologies in railway transportation will get a chance thanks to new European projects. Construction of high-speed rail lines lies ahead and it is in this field where the safety and technology standards are the highest. Investments will be however made also in the existing railway network. The memorandum will help fullfil the great potential of Czech railways," says the transport minister Dan Ťok.
 
Shift2Rail is a platform seeking research and innovations in the railway industry. It accelerates integration of new and advanced technologies into innovative solutions for railway products. On top of that, Shift2Rail supports the competitiveness of European railways and satisfies the changing transportations needs of the EU.
