• Performs ultimate state supervision over the performance of state supervision, in matters concerning the acquisition and improvement of professional competence for driving motor vehicles, and in matters concerning the execution of state administration pursuant to Sec. 53 (3) (Sec. 54 (3) (e) of Act no. 247/2000 Coll.);
• Takes care of the administrative procedure in the sphere of drivers’ administration and decides on appeals of the decisions of Regional Authorities, issued pursuant to this Act, (Sec. 124 (2) (d) of Act no. 361/2000 Coll.);
• Prepares legal regulations concerning road traffic, including implementation regulations;
• Prepares legal regulations concerning the acquisition and improvement of professional competence of drivers and the operation of driver training schools, including implementation regulations;
• Prepares tests for the acquisition of a Driving Entitlement(s) and for re-testing of the professional competence, and their renewal;
• Represents the state in court procedures and makes decisions in out-of-court dealings on damages;
• Methodologically manages and directs the work of regional state administrative bodies in the sphere of driver training schools and Authorisations to Drive;
• Co-operates in the preparation and implementation of the system of training the employees of the MT and regional state administrative bodies;
• Takes care of international co-operation, within the Section’s sphere of competence;
• In its work, closely co-operates with governmental and non-governmental bodies and authorised organisations and the appropriate offices of other state administration bodies, primarily with the Ministry of the Interior and the Czech Police.
