The Main Tasks of the Strategy Section:

• Ensures the preparation, creation, and monitoring of the Czech Transportation Policy, including strategic and conceptual documents for the Ministry;
• Elaborates documents concerning the development of transportation networks in the Czech Republic, and documents concerning the use of innovative technologies in transportation; formulates transportation prognoses;
• Elaborates proposals of priorities for the construction of transportation networks, based on their economic efficiency, risk, and benefit analysis;
• Takes care of planning and co-ordinating statistics, in line with EC legislation;
• Is responsible for the execution of state administration, in matters concerning transportation in the sphere of zoning;
• Elaborates summary opinions on behalf of the Ministry of Transport, with respect to background documents for zoning documentation;
• Ensures the implementation of new technologies in transportation;
• Ensures the implementation of the State Environmental Policy, in the sphere of transportation;
• Ensures that the State Programme for the Support of Energy Savings and Use of Renewable Energy Sources in transportation is fulfilled;
• Elaborates the Ministry’s research and development concept, and prepares fundamental materials related thereto;
• Assigns, manages, and analyses, research and development projects;
• Provides methodological leadership in the research and development work of the Ministry-sponsored organisation, The Centre for Transportation Research Brno (Centrum dopravního výzkumu Brno);
• Co-ordinates the conceptual plans of the various modes of transportation, with respect to zoning;
• Represents the country in research and development organisations (COST, OECD, CEMT), and in working groups of framework programmes, and working groups of EC research programmes.
