“I'm not joining the Ministry of Transport to patronize, but to help. I want to manage the Ministry in a product way, i.e. depending on the individual types of transport. We will announce the public procurement for the electronic vignette again, simplify it and monitor all public procurements thoroughly all the time. Putting 21.3 km of new motorways and 23.5 km of class I roads into operation this year will also be a priority. In rail transport, the clear goal is for passengers to use the universally usable One Ticket in December 2020,” said Karel Havlíček.

Minister Havlíček arrived in the ministry building together with prime minister Andrej Babiš. They were welcomed here by the departing minister Vladimír Kremlík who gave the handover report to minister Havlíček where he summed up the current agenda at the Ministry of Transport. Minister Havlíček and the Prime Minister then met the different deputies and heads of organisations that report to ŘSD.

Karel Havlíček graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University and later habilitated as associate professor at the Faculty of Finance and Accounting. In the academic sphere, he is mainly associated with the University of Finance and Administration, where he was a dean. He led the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises of the Czech Republic for many years. On 30 April 2019 the President of the Republic appointed him the Minister of Industry and Trade and he has been assigned the management of the Ministry of Transport from 24 January 2020.
