Passengers can now travel with OneTicket in commercial trains and reserve a seat1/7/2021|Press releasesAfter about a half-year of being in operation, OneTicket has entered into its next phase. As of June, passengers can reserve a seat and at the beginning of July, first operators of commercial trains join the system. OneTicket now covers more than 99% of all train connections in the Czech Republic. “In the first half-year of its operation, the system shows 350,000 of sold tickets. Everything is working properly. Even though the participation is voluntary, we are glad that carriers operating commercial trains still prefer to join. It helps to extend travel options around the Czech Republic using the OneTicket”, explained the Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček. Unlike trains under public service obligation, the state does not commission commercial trains and carriers operate them at their own risk. These connections are operated mainly on lines Prague – Ostrava and Prague – Brno. On these routes, OneTicket will be offered by České dráhy and RegioJet. Other carriers will join later. Many passengers will also appreciate a new feature, i.e. the possibility to reserve a seat in trains. This applies both to trains with optional seat reservation as well as with obligatory seat reservation. In the first two months, the system showed nearly 2,000 of sold seat reservations. The option to reserve a seat is available for specific trains directly on the website OneTicket.cz or in the OneTicket app, which is available in Google Play or App Store. “Given the holiday season and since many people decided to stay in Czechia, we want to promote domestic tourism and travelling by trains. This is why we have started with an intensive campaign to show the benefits of OneTicket”, said Mr Havlíček about the campaign which is being prepared by the Ministry of Transport. The Ministry together with CzechTourism will focus not only on the benefits of OneTicket, but also on interesting places in the Czech Republic, which are easily accessible by train. “OneTicket is not bound to a specific train connection. That is why it is a perfect option for travelling. We are glad that we can show the people all the places they can visit as well as offer them an easy means of transport”, pointed out Jan Hergert, managing director of CzechTourism.
