04. Basic information about the living situation

A traffic accident is an event in a road traffic such as an accident or collision that became or started on a road and involves a death or injury to persons or damage to a property in direct relation to the operation of a vehicle in motion.

05. Who is authorized to act in this case (file an application etc.)

In this case, a participant in a traffic accident acts.

06. What are the conditions and procedure for dealing with the living situation

If a traffic accident doesn't involve a death or personal injury or property damage apparently exceeding the amount of 100,000 CZK on any of involved vehicles including transported goods, the participants are obliged to report the traffic accident to the police just in the following cases:

if there is a physical damage to the property of third participants, except for damage to a vehicle whose driver took part in the traffic accident or damage to goods transported in the vehicle,
  if there is a damage or destruction of a part or accessory of the road communication according to the law no. 13/1997 Coll., on road communications, as amended,
  participants in the traffic accident cannot secure the restoration of traffic flow on the road communications by themselves without exerting an undue effort.
 

07. How can you start solving the living situation

The driver who took part in a traffic accident shall:
immediately stop the vehicle,
  refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages or using any addictive substance after the traffic accident during the period in which it would be detrimental to determine whether before or while driving he consumed an alcoholic drink or take any other addictive substance but always until the arrival of a police officer,
  take appropriate measures to prevent a damage to persons or things if this threatens due to the traffic accident, and
  cooperate in the investigation of the facts.
 
Participants in a traffic accident are obliged to:
take appropriate measures in order not to endanger the safety of road communications at the site of traffic accident; if required by circumstances, they are authorized to stop other vehicles,
  announce the traffic accident to the police; if an injury occurred, provide a first aid according to their ability and call a medical service provider for the injured person,
  mark the site of the traffic accident,
  allow the restoration of traffic on road communications, especially public transport vehicles,
   
immediately report to the police a damage to road communications, public utility or the environment if it occurred in the traffic accident,
  rove on demand your identity and provide information about the vehicle that had a part in the traffic accident,
  in cases of no obligation to report a traffic accident to the police, draw up a joint record of the traffic accident, sign it by both sides and immediately transmit it to the insurer; this record must include the identification of the place and time of the traffic accident, its participants, and vehicles, its causes, course, and consequences.
 

08. In what institution to deal with the living situation

In cases of no obligation to report a traffic accident to the police, you’re entitled to deal with the situation yourselves directly at the site of a traffic accident.
It is also possible to contact the insurance company in which participants in a traffic accident are insured.

At the site of a traffic accident with the participants in a traffic accident and the Police of the Czech Republic, immediately after a traffic accident.

10. What documents are required to have with you

The driver must have with himself:
a driving license,
  a vehicle registration certificate,
  a ertificate of liability insurance for damage caused by a vehicle,
  a certificate of medical fitness in case of a driver according to § 87 par. 3 of the law no. 361/2000 Coll., on road traffic and on amendments to certain the laws, as amended,
  a driver certificate of professional competence for the respective group of vehicles in case of a driver according to § 6. 9 and 10 of the law no. 361/2000 Coll., on road traffic and on amendments to certain the laws, as amended.
 

11. What forms are required and where are they available

Currently, there is no existing mandatory legislation that establishes an obligation to carry the draft record of a traffic accident in the vehicle and the form of this draft is also not currently set.
Despite the above mentioned, however, it is possible to recommend so-called European record of a traffic accident (a EuroForm) that we currently recommend for all drivers to carry with them in a car and that is available in insurance companies or on the website of the Ministry of Transport.
This form is designed so that in an emergency situation after a traffic accident it led its participants to not miss the important facts in the record stipulated according to the law:
the identification of the place and time of the traffic accident,
  the identification of participants in traffic accidents and their vehicles,
  the causes of the traffic accident,
  the course of a traffic accident and its aftermath.

Administrative or other fees are not determined.

In most cases, this situation is solved directly at the site of a traffic accident.

14. Who are the other participants (concerned) to deal with the living situation

Other participants are:
the damaged,
  the potential witness,
  in some cases the Police of the Czech Republic.

Other activities are not determined.
