Registering a vehicle in the Vehicle Registry – a new, not-yet-registered vehicle

The person authorised to act is generally the natural or legal person who will be entered in the Vehicle Registry as the owner of the vehicle or, in case of a joint application, the owner and the person who is named in the application as the operator of the vehicle.

You can contact any municipal office of a municipality with extended jurisdiction: there are 206 such offices in the Czech Republic and you can search and find them on the map below.



 

document.png What to bring to the office?

  • application for registration of a road vehicle in Vehicle Registry (in CZ language only)
  • original proof of identity (ID card, passport)
  • proof of permanent or long-term residence or asylum in the Czech Republic; proof of temporary residence of at least 6 months per calendar year for citizens of another EU member state
  • original or certified copy of the trade licence or extract from the commercial registry (for vehicles of a legal entity or natural person running a business)
  • proof of roadworthiness: technical certificate, or the declaration of conformity (COC certificate) if no technical certificate has been issued, or the decision of the municipal authority of the municipality with extended competence approving the roadworthiness of an individually imported vehicle, or a vehicle approval certificate valid in all member states
  • documentation containing data to the extent necessary for the award of the technical certificate if not contained in the roadworthiness document
  • proof of technical inspection
  • vehicle inspection report if the vehicle is not new
  • green card (proof of liability insurance)
  • confirmation of payment of value added tax (if purchasing a new transport vehicle
  • from another member stat

krizek.png  The administrative fee is CZK 800 (for a vehicle with at least 4 wheels), CZK 700 CZK (trailer over 750 kg), CZK 500 (trailer up to 750 kg), CZK 500 (motorcycle over 50 cc), CZK 300 (motorcycle up to 50 cc)

  The entire operation is done without delay (mostly on the spot) and within 30 days in more complex cases

Appeals are processed in accordance with Act No 500/2004 Coll., Administrative Code, as amended, and shall be filed with the competent authority.
