Replacing the existing driving licenses for a driving license matching the pattern of the European Communities is determined by § 134 par. 2 the law no. 361/2000 Coll., on road traffic and on amendments to certain acts (Road Traffic Act), as amended.
Holders of driving licenses issued from January 1, 2001, to April 30, 2004, are obliged to exchange them by December 31, 2013.
A newly issued driving license matching the pattern of the European Communities is a document of polycarbonate plastic card type about the size of 54 mm x 86 mm; this permit is issued for a term of 10 years.

To meet all the required formalities.

07. How can you start solving the living situation

An application can be submitted in person or represented by a designee in accordance with § 31 and subsequent of the Civil Code (the power of attorney may not be verified) with all other attachments, including a proof of your identity, at the appropriate municipality with extended competence.

At the appropriate municipality with extended competence according to the place of permanent residence.

With the staff of the driver registry of the respective municipality with extended competence.

10. What documents are required to have with you

At the office shall be submitted:

a completed application for a driving license,
   
a valid proof of identity (an identity card, in exceptional situations a passport indicating residence in the Czech Republic),
   
one photo,
   
a driving license which expires.

11. What forms are required and where are they available

An application for the issuance of a driver license (the original) can be picked up at any office of a municipality with extended competence.
A model application for a driving license (incl. instructions for completion) can be viewed on the website of the Ministry of Transport.

12. What are the fees and how they can be paid

An exchange of a driving license according to § 134 par. 2 the law no. 361/2000 Coll., on road traffic and on amendments to certain acts (Road Traffic Act), as amended, shall be carried out free of charge.
The administrative fee is levied only when the driving license is issued within a shorter period (see par. 13) or in case of exchange of the license which is associated with the change of personal data.

13. What are the deadlines for processing

An application for the issuance of driving licenses will be processed within 20 days of application.
The application is also possible to process within a shorter period, i.e. within 5 working days after a payment of an administrative fee of 500 CZK.

Other participants in the procedure are not determined.

15. What other activities are requested from the applicant

A driving license can be taken in person or by a designee based on a proven power of attorney.

This situation cannot be solved by sending a request by e-mail.
