In only a few minutes two electric cars will charge here emission-free energy for other hundreds of kilometres of driving. The new ABB Terra 360 station, launched today by ČEZ Group in the parking of the Olympia shopping mall in Mladá Boleslav in the presence of the minister of transport Martin Kupka and other guests, is the fastest in the Czech Republic to meet this demand of drivers. The charging hub, consisting of a total of seven stations, can serve up to 14 electric cars at a time. The new stands were built thanks to a grant from the Operational Programme Transport.

"The whole automotive industry will undergo a major transformation. The government can see the key role of this sector of the Czech economy and does its best to make this change a success. We support both the Czech gigafactory key project and the growth of public charging networks. The Ministry of Transport has so far supported the construction of more than 2 000 charging points and in the coming years we will multiply investments in charging infrastructure along motorways and in cities up to CZK 6 billion. Thanks to the administration of subsidy programmes, we seek to support the development of backbone and connecting infrastructure and influence its parameters to keep pace with increasingly powerful and modern electric vehicles. Locations such as this one in Mladá Boleslav will become the standard and it will be a matter of fact to be able to recharge several cars at the same time," said transport minister Martin Kupka.

"The Central Bohemian Region is active in the development of various forms of alternative drives in public and individual transport. There are already dozens of professional charging stations in towns and on the roads of the Central Bohemian Region and this network is getting denser. We consider it important that drivers can recharge outside their homes or workplaces – quickly and without long waits. We also want to set an example ourselves, which is why we are continuously supplementing the Regional Authority's own fleet with electric vehicles and charging wallboxes," said Karel Bendl, the Central Bohemian Region's Councillor for Road Transport.

"As the Czech leader in the construction of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, we are constantly improving our network. Our network has the highest performance in the Czech Republic, so people charge faster here on average. In the future we want to continue building stands with higher output. This year we want to build 40 such stands. There is a growing number of powerful electric vehicles on the road that can take full advantage of the potential of ultra-fast charging stations. We are today symbolically launching an ultra-fast station that can simultaneously recharge most of the battery capacity of two electric cars in 10 minutes. Like in all other locations in our network, we guarantee drivers truly emission-free electricity thanks to the certification of its origin from renewable sources," said Pavel Cyrani, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of ČEZ.

"We are really serious about electromobility and its promotion. We already have nearly 100 hybrid and 20 fully electric vehicles in our company fleet and more will come. We also take seriously our Group's commitment to achieving ambitious sustainability goals and will continue to invest heavily in the development of environmentally friendly technologies, the construction of photovoltaic power plants and smart solutions connecting the world of electromobility," says Zdeněk Havelka, CEO of CPI Property Group. "Today's opening of the powerful chargers at our business centre is an example of the direction in which the market is developing and how our company is actively contributing to the development of sustainable energy solutions," added Zdeněk Havelka.

"This is a symbolic opening and we are glad that the most powerful charging station in the Czech Republic is here in Mladá Boleslav, at the headquarters of the largest seller of electric cars on the Czech market. If we want to meet the goals of the National Action Plan for Clean Mobility and have 35 000 public charging points for Czech drivers by 2030, we need to continue the pace of installations. I consider it equally important that we stick to high quality of this infrastructure and not only to high quantity. It is the growth in the number of high-speed charging hubs such as this one that is crucial for the further development of electromobility in the Czech Republic," says Jiří Maláček, Head of the Czech Škoda Auto dealership.

A total of seven ČEZ charging stands are now available to drivers in the Olympia parking area. The fastest of them, with 360kW of power, can charge two cars simultaneously, each with 180kW of power. Each of the other stations has an output of 50 kW, but by the end of this year ČEZ will replace two of them with ultra-fast 150 kW stands. ČEZ has set itself the goal of reaching 800 EV charging stands by 2025 and multiplying their capacity as part of its Clean Energy of Tomorrow vision. It wants to meet the demand for shorter charging times by building stations for ultra-fast charging and by expanding the number of stands in so-called hubs in busy locations along main roads and in cities.

The goal of building an adequate network of electric charging stations by 2025 in view of the growing number of registered electric vehicles was set by the joint "Memorandum on Cooperation in the Development of Electromobility in the Czech Republic", signed in 2021 by the representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Správa železnic (the Czech railway infrastructure manager), ŘSD (the Czech road and motorway directorate), Ředitelství vodních cest (the Czech waterways directorate), Škoda Auto and ČEZ.
