Introducing new driving school questions, this time aimed at the blind
6/6/2023Press releases

The Ministry of Transport, the Association of Driving Schools of the Czech Republic, the Police of the Czech Republic and the United Organisation of the Blind and Partially Sighted have introduced another set of static and dynamic questions for applicants for a driving licence. This sixth series covers, among other things, understanding the needs of the blind as road users, but also the behaviour of other groups of pedestrians, cyclists and the correct driving of motorcyclists.

Introducing new driving school questions, this time aimed at the blind
"Vulnerable road users are not only motorcyclists, pedestrians or cyclists, but also people with special needs. The blind, the deaf, and the hard of hearing, for example. This is why we now include these questions, so that every driver knows how to behave considerately when encountering a blind person, for example at a pedestrian crossing," says Milan Janda from the Ministry of Transport.

A total of 35 static questions and 11 dynamic questions will be added to the set of more than a thousand questions for the final exams in this field from 9 July 2023.

"It is essential to continuously work on improving our driving culture and we hope we are contributing to this now. Part of this effort is the new clip You see him!He can't see you! aimed at being considerate to the blind," says Jiří Novotný of the Association of Driving Schools of the Czech Republic.

Theoretical tests for applicants for driving licences are conducted on computers in 206 municipalities across the country. Candidates take the tests online in the Ministry of Transport system. Every applicant must pass these tests to continue with the practical part of the test, i.e. driving.

The tests are part of the New Generation of Test Questions for Driving Licence Applicants project (noveotazky.cz). It is a set of text and animated traffic questions for driving tests in driving schools, which we are gradually deploying into the live tests. Anyone can try out the new generation on the noveotazky.cz website. Full question sets, including the original ones, are available on the public part of the app of the Ministry of Transport website Tests (mdcr.cz). Up to 120 000 applicants for a driving licence meet the test questions for the driving test every year and we are trying to introduce the current trends in everyday traffic to them by including these new sets.

Please find attached an overview of the new questions that will now be deployed in the exams this summer. Those interested can already find them at noveotazky.cz
