23/4/2021Press releases

The final step of the project preparation, i.e. documentation to obtain building permit, needs to be taken to launch the construction of a new railway route Praha-Ruzyně – Praha-Václav Havel Airport. Správa železnic (the national railway infrastructure manager) intends to announce a public procurement for the documentation contractor. The documentation will also include a Building Information Modelling (BIM). The construction of the railway track should begin in three years. A part of the construction will also be a railway station Praha-Dlouhá Míle with a car park and a bus terminal.

The anticipated construction is a part of a planned railway connection between Prague, the airport and Kladno. It will include two railway tracks on route Praha-Ruzyně – Praha-Václav Havel Airport as well as a new railway station Praha-Dlouhá Míle. This station will be located in a developing area near the Václav Havel Airport runway, Šestka shopping centre and Pražský okruh highway. A transport node, which will allow transferring to public and suburban bus transport and possibly tram, is expected in a near future.

There will be not only a car park (with a capacity of up to 2,000 parking spots after enlargement), but also a bus terminal. The final design of the railway station will be a subject of an architectural review during the above-mentioned process of building permit documentation.

The entire project will connect the international airport directly to railway; the travel time between Prague and the airport is expected to be around 25 minutes, journey to Kladno should not be longer than 30 minutes. Správa železnic closely coordinates the works with the Prague Airport.
