From January 2021, foreign drivers coming to the Czech Republic can buy new electronic vignette either via e-shop on eDalnice.cz or in 12 self-service kiosks, which are located mainly in border areas. The kiosks communicate in English, German, Polish, Hungarian and Russian. Payment is possible only by card.
A long-term aim of the Strategy, which was adopted today by the government, is to decrease death toll and severe injuries as a result of traffic collisions. Similarly, to other EU and UN Member States, the Czech Republic aims to reach this goal by 2030. Road Safety Strategy 2021–2030 builds on a National Road Safety Strategy 2011–2020. It will be implemented through action plans, which will be newly adopted for two years term.
In 2020, the Rail Safety Inspection Office registered the lowest number of accidents in the last 17 years. In comparison to 2019, the number decreased by 21 %. However, the death toll decreased only by 4 % and the number of injuries by 20 %.
The highest amount of investments into transport infrastructure ever, adoption of a so-called Linear Act, launch of a PPP project on D4 motorway or introduction of an electronic vignette and a single tariff system on the Czech railway. These events will represent the year 2021 in transport. This time, new projects aim to speed up improvement of roads, make Ministry’s agenda digital and strengthen the role of passenger transport on the Czech railway.

The Ministry of Transport already has outcomes of the COVID-BUS programme to support coach operators, since the coach industry was significantly affected by the decrease of demand due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nearly CZK 1 billion on the accounts of thousands of companies helps to solve the situation concerning costs of 3,486 vehicles. Those, who applied for the support, fulfilled the programme conditions and have business in compliance with the rules, succeeded.
