The opening ceremony took place on the next section of the D3 motorway today. These 8 km of a new motorway connect the municipalities Bošilec and Ševětín, and more motorway sections will follow. This motorway section will remain free of charge for drivers until the end of the year. This fast connection to the south of Bohemia is currently the motorway section where building works have progressed most.

To be able to efficiently use this new motorway section, also a 1-km section from the adjacent D3 construction Ševětín – Borek had to be built. So a total of 9.1 km of a brand new motorway was opened today.

"I would like to thank ŘSD, the motorway administration organisation, the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure (SFDI), building contractors and local self-governments for their cooperation, which resulted in the opening of this new motorway section," said the 1st deputy to the transport minister Tomáš Čoček. "The new motorway section will improve traffic safety and increase the travel speed. It will stay free of charge until the end of this year," he added.

The motorway section has 8.1 km. It includes four motorway bridges and one pedestrian underpass. The Bošilec – Ševětín section will be primarily used as the replacement of existing road I/3 that could no longer take the traffic loads. The new motorway section will bring higher convenience for drivers but also improve safety.
Another 30.5 km of the D3 motorway are still under construction even after the opening of the Bošilec – Ševětín section. This includes the České Budějovice bypass – section D3 0310/II Hodějovice-Třebonín with a length of 12.6 km and section 0310/I Úsilné-Hodějovice with 7.2 km. Another motorway between Ševětín and Borek is still under construction, so the one kilometre opened today was just the first part. Drivers should be able to start using this section in the spring of 2020.

When completed, the D3 will become the artery road between Prague and the South Bohemian Region and connect to the motorway network in Austria. Its length will be 170 km and it will cover the route Prague – České Budějovice – Austria. The whole D3 motorway will belong to the E55 European road coming from Scandinavia and crossing our territory towards Greece.

Together this this section, ŘSD has currently 247.1 km of motorways and category 1 roads under construction, of which motorways are 131.4 km. Besides the D3, the D35 motorway is another motorway where works are progressing most: 27 km of motorway are under construction at the moment. It is followed by D11 where 22 km are in progress. Modernisation of the D1 continues and there are construction sites on 51.9 km on this motorway. New category I road sections are 63.8 km at the moment. Check the current progress on the ŘSD interactive map.
